Thanh Hoa (VNA) – The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years has taken its toll on tourism in Vietnam and central province of Thanh Hoa in particular, forcing localities, especially national tourist sites, to focus on the domestic market rather than the overseas one.
Thanh Hoa is considered as one of the localities with high potential for tourism development thanks to its diverse and rich tourism resources, both natural and human.
Known as “Miniature Vietnam”, Thanh Hoa has all kinds of terrain, from mountain to midland, plain to coast, with many beautiful landscapes and valuable historical and cultural relics. At the same time, the province also has a constantly expanding system of tourist infrastructure and technical facilities, gradually improving quality, convenience and modernity.
Tourist products are more and more diversified, of quality with civilized and polite services. Human resources in tourism have been progressively strengthened in terms of both quantity and quality. To efficiently harness these resources, Thanh Hoa invested and completed key infrastructure projects such as a road connecting Tho Xuan Airport to Nghi Son Economic Zone, a road connecting the western mountain districts, the National road 1A connecting Hai Tien, Hai Tourist areas of Hoa, Ben En, Lam Kinh.
In particular, the province has renewed the product-destinations by regularly organizing tourist events such as sea tourism, festivals of light, love and flowers, street carnivals, inaugurated the Hai Tien waterway – Dao Ne, a wall village, a cobbled street and a night market in Sam Fils.
In recent years, Thanh Hoa has emerged as one of the major cities and provinces in terms of tourism growth nationwide. During the period 2016-2019, the number of tourist arrivals in the province increased by 15.2% per year while tourism receipts increased by 31.7% year-on-year, contributing to local socio-economic development.
However, the uncertain course of the pandemic over the past two years has made it difficult to meet tourism growth targets as planned. A number of plans and policies to revive inbound and outbound tourism have become unworkable. Therefore, focusing on intra-provincial tourism development is a necessary solution.
Experts have suggested that Thanh Hoa issue his own
tourism revival policy, renew products to offer more experience to tourists under the motto “better – newer – faster – cheaper”.
The province is creating its image as a safe, friendly and attractive destination. Besides tourism resources, infrastructure and various products, the difference is also a highlight, thus enticing visitors to come to the locality.
Thanh Hoa has set a goal of making tourism a leading economic sector by 2030.
Amid the challenges posed by COVID-19, the province welcomed 7.3 million visitors in 2020, earning VND 10,394 billion (over $ 453.6 million), accounting for 65.5% and 50.7 respectively % objectives.
The local tourism sector has experienced impressive growth in recent years. However, its development is still not up to the potential.
Sam Son Beach in North Central Province is a familiar destination for many people. It is home to several hidden charms that await tourists to explore, including the ancient fishing village of Van Chai. The village is busy at dawn as the fishermen return ashore with their catch and those at home come to help sort the fish.
The town of Sam Son was promoted to town in 2017, in an approach that aims to respond to the local urbanization process and to make Sam Son a national tourist town.
Besides the famous Sam Son Beach, Thanh Hoa is home to several other charming ones, namely Hai Tien in Hoang Hoa District; Tien Trang Quang Xuong in Quang Xuong District; Hai Hoa and Hai Thanh in Tinh Gia; Bai Dong (the eastern beach); Vinh Fils; Quang Nham and Hai Binh./.
