IHCL conducts training program for Goa Tourism Development Corporation staff

The session involved detailed study of the core departments of the house, including housekeeping, food service, food production, reception, engineering and horticulture.


In a bid to achieve benchmark service standards for tourism in Goa, the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) conducted a one-day training program for resort staff of Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (GTDC) at Taj Resort & Convention Center in Dona Paula. The training involved an in-depth presentation of IHCL’s signature hospitality and an interactive session with the learning and development team of IHCL, Goa on current trends and potential learnings in this rapidly changing industry.

Participants were chosen on the basis of seniority in the rankings and experience. The session involved detailed study of the core departments of the house, including housekeeping, food service, food production, reception, engineering and horticulture. Each manager demonstrated the various techniques and skills used in daily hotel operations and the correct use of state-of-the-art equipment for effective time management with mass demands. In addition, each department discussed common challenges encountered and the different methods used to solve them.

Speaking on the initiative, Vincent Ramos, Senior Vice President – Goa for IHCL said, “Unlike other states in the country, tourism is the backbone of Goa’s economy, 40% of the population depends on it directly or indirectly. Therefore, it is imperative that we adapt to the changing tourism landscape and match the service expectations of today’s traveler. Goa has immense potential to position itself as the best travel and leisure destination in the world. With a combined and unified effort from all industry partners and stakeholders, I am confident that Goa can achieve exemplary standards in tourism.

At the end of the training, participants were rewarded with certificates and souvenirs by the GTDC management team. In his speech at the closing ceremony, Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of the GTDC, said: “We are extremely grateful to the IHCL team for extending their resources and support for improving standards. of service in the residences of the GTDC. Without a doubt, IHCL is the hallmark of Indian hospitality with a culture of service that has been nurtured for 118 years and practiced in 50 global destinations. This synergy will help Goa to be a model state as envisioned by our Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant.

GTDC has over 500 keys spread across the length and breadth of the state in key locations. These properties are mainly used to accommodate travelers visiting the paradise state of Goa across the country.
