Tourism Development Fund Supports New Efforts

Cornwall Ontario – A number of new events and projects will receive support from the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC).
A total of $83,789.60 was invested in the community from the Tourism Development Fund, enabling businesses and event organizers to increase out-of-town marketing as well as improve the overall tourist experience. 2022 is shaping up to be a big year for tourism, with the highly anticipated return of many local festivals and events.
The TDCC received 9 applications from January to April and was able to provide funding to all applicants. The allocated funds were distributed as follows:
- Cornwall Sports Festival – $3,140
- Glengarry Highland Games – $15,500
- Cornwall 1784 – $15,574
- Cap 2022 – $15,000
- Rocking the River – $5,235
- Cornwall Aquatic Festival – $9,465
- Relocation of UELAC Head Office – $4,875
- Classic Cotton Candy – $5,000
- Perch Magazine – $10,000
The Tourism Development Fund is generated from the proceeds of the municipal tax on lodging.
The approximate amount of funding available for 2022 is estimated at $300,000 and intake of applications continues throughout the year.
Eligibility for funding is outlined on CornwallTourism.com, and interested parties can contact Amy Malyon, Tourism Coordinator, for assistance with the application process if needed. Applicants should submit their application at least three months prior to their project date.
